The Old Barbershop - Trust

There’s a picture that hangs in our office of the barbershop in the small village where I grew up. On a hot summer evening there always seemed to be four or five local men having a coke or ice cream and telling their tales. Every once in a while someone would actually get up and have a haircut. It was exciting as a young boy to go in there and hear all of this.

There was also a feeling of trust in that room. There wasn’t one person in there that wasn’t well known and believed to be trustworthy. In fact if you had to go out town for a lengthy spell, I would bet that you could have left all of your savings with any one of them and it would still be waiting for you upon your return. I never would have thought that an early barbershop education would provide valuable core values alter in life.
